About us
Who and what is it for?
The Celebratory and Outdoor Performance Online Resources has been created to offer information, networking and archiving facilities to people who work in, or are interested in, the outdoor performance sector; this will include artists, commissioners, students, academics and aficionados. Through this portal you will find:
- An archive and database of individuals (including biographies and contacts), companies and projects (including images, movies and media, text and blogs). Links are made between organisations, people and project thus providing a dynamic network and reference tool.
- A calendar of upcoming events including performances, conferences, festivals.
- A helpdesk, providing advice and support for people new to celebratory arts. An assigned project liaison will help community and voluntary groups develop celebratory and projects.

Celebratory and Outdoor Performance
We define celebratory and outdoor performance, broadly, as anything that may be described in whole or part by one or several of these terms: site-specific performance, carnival, procession, celebration, son et lumiere, fire-show, street art, street performance, paratheatre, ritual, participatory public art, applied performance in public spaces, performance intervention.
Using the site
All the content is provided by users, and overseen by an editorial team. We hope that we have made the site accessible (see dedicated page on access for specifics) and easy to use. There are three levels of user.
Unregistered
As an unregistered user you can search the site, review the archive and database, read most articles, and keep informed of upcoming events. You cannot upload any content to the site, nor use the helpdesk. Some articles may be restricted.
Registered.
Once you have created an account, and registered on the site you may create your profile. This identifies (in as much or little detail as you wish) your interest in the sector and may provide further contact information. Once you have this profile you may:
- Create orgnisations and projects; thus if you are the founder or director of a company you can create an entry for them, similarly if you were the producer of an event you can create a project archive – you may upload images and other media, text and event create project blog. Once created you become the ‘owner’ of these projects and companies. You may make links between companies, projects and other individuals.
- Associate yourself with existing companies or projects. For examples if you worked for company x for a time you may apply to be associated with them. Once this association is approved by the ‘owner’ of the company profile you will be listed on their company page. Similarly you may link yourself to projects that you were involved with. Once linked (and accepted by the archive owner) you may also post images, media and text to the project archive. You may also contribute to the project blog.
- Enter upcoming events on the advertising calendar.
Registered Helpdesk
If you are part of a voluntary or community organisation based in Kent or Medway you may upgrade your registration to make use of the dedicated helpdesk service to support your event. Further details are given at that registration level.
